my two bicycles were stolen from our backyard last night. the police officers that came to make the report recognized my description of my fixie - the same officers just picked it up from someone who found it at hayes and baker! they went back to the station in golden gate park to verify that i could come pick it up - they even returned to my place to give me a ride to retrieve it!
my helmet is missing (i needed a new one anyways) and my look road bike is still gone (was thinking of selling it) and we have insurance so hopefully we’ll be compensated there.
i’m somewhat of the believe that the messenger bag i found last month on valencia and turned in at the police station (despite them laughing at me) is somehow karmically related.
lessons learned for the one millionth time:
always have a current photo of your bicycle. my bike’s appearance has changed a lot since i got it 3.5 years ago.
lock everything in as many places as possible.
have insurance.
call the police and file a report asap.
